World War One - Quarter 4

The Impact of World War I:  A Project Based Learning Unit

The First World War was truly ‘the Great War’. Its origins were complex. Its scale was vast. Its conduct was intense. Its impact on military operations was revolutionary. Its human and material costs were enormous. And its results were profound.”
(John Bourne, “Total War I: The Great War”)

Modern historians agree that the impact of World War I went well beyond its ending in 1918.    If one looks at any major conflict or problem that arose in the post-1918 world, the cause can usually be traced back in some way to World War I.  By understanding this war, we can better understand many of the challenges and issues that confront our world today.
