Driving Question
Why is understanding World War I the key to understanding the first decade of the 21st century?

Project Guidelines
1)      You will work in a group and your group will make a KWHL Chart for researching and learning about World War I and its outcomes.

2)      Your teacher will provide you with some information, learning opportunities, and videos, but your group will be responsible for doing the bulk of the research and gathering of information.

3)      Individually, you are responsible for the following:
    • Work  cooperatively with your group and do your share of the research and work; 
    •  Keep a dictionary of new terms that you run across in your research and define them; 
    •  Take notes that will be used for your projects; 
    •  Complete a Reflective Journal page at the end of each class; and 
    •  Write an essay arguing for the importance of World War I in understanding the 21st century, which is due at the end of the quarter.
4)      Together, your group is responsible for the following: 
    •    Use the KWHL strategy to come up with a plan for the research and project;
    •  Submit a proposal for your group’s media presentation; 
    •  Create a timeline that shows the significant events in the war; 
    • Produce a map(s) that shows the western front of the war; and 
    •  Prepare and present a media presentation on the impact of the war on one aspect of the world today, which is due at the end of the quarter.
5)       You will be provided with checklists, rubrics, and due dates for completing the different tasks for this project. You will be assessed on the quality of your group participation, effort, and completion of PBL tasks.
